Harry A. Hipsher, 92, of Danville, Ill., died at 8:42 a.m.
Wednesday, Aug. 27, 1997 at USMC, Logan Campus, Danville. Born July 27, 1905,
in Altamont, Ill., he was the son of Allen B. and Pearl (Fritz) Hipsher. His
marriage was on Dec. 31, 1923 in Covington to Margaret B. Hamer. She preceded
him in death on Aug. 23, 1979. He later married Alice Brubaker on Sept. 10,
1980. She survives. Also surviving, are: a brother, Howard F. Hipsher of
Naperville, Ill.; a sister, Lucille C. Fiock, of Danville; nine nieces and
nephews; one stepniece; and many great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in
death by one brother and one sister. Mr. Hipsher graduated from West Lebanon
High School and Brown Business College. He worked for Inland Supply Co. for 46
years, retiring in 1972 as manager. He served in World War II in the U. S. Army
for 28 months in the South Pacific. He was a member of St. James United
Methodist Church; a life member of American Legion Post #210 and Danville Elks
Lodge #332; 50-yr. member and past president of Danville Kiwanis C lu b; 50-yr.
member of Olive Branch Masonic Lodge; member of Scottish Rite Valley of
Danville and Ansar Shrine Club. Visitation was Friday at Lakeside Funeral
Chapel. Service there on Saturday with Rev. Russell Smith officiating.
Entombment in Spring Hill Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to
Shriner’s Crippled Children’s Hospital. –
