Newtown – Albert A. Hinton of Newtown died at 10:35 p.m. Thursday in Lakeview Medical Center in Danville, Ill. He had been a patient there since Monday and seriously ill the past year. Mr. Hinton was a brickmason most of his life, working in and near the Newtown area. He also farmed in Richland Township near Newtown and was a contractor for several years. After retiring from farming he worked for Fountain County Highway Department. He was a former president of the Bricklayers Union Local 11 of Lafayette and he received a gold card for 50 years membership in the union. Born in Crawfordsville March 6, 1917 he attended Crawfordsville HS and lived in Attica, Crawfordsville and Waveland before moving to Newtown where he had lived since 1951. He served in Germany during WWII. Mr. Hinton was a member of Newtown Community Church; Elks Lodge 483 of Crawfordsville; Quigle-Palin American Legion Post 394 of Newton (sic) and was a former member of Newtown Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities. His marriage was June 25, 1938 in Waveland to Zana E. Pogue who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Sharon) Mains of Danville, Ill; one son, Marc Hinton of Lafayette; a brother, Avery Hinton of Newtown and four sisters, Mrs. Nathan (Dorothy) Pickett of Romney; Mrs. Franklin (Helen) Johnson of Waveland and Mrs. Frank (June) Wilson and Mrs. TL (Mary) Hudson both of Crawfordsville. --- transcribed by kbz
