HINDS, Mary Reynolds

Hillsboro – Mrs. Mary Hinds, 77 year old widow was found in her home here Wednesday morning suffering from a paralytic stoke which she said she suffered about 10 o’clock Monday night. Mrs. Hinds who lives alone, had lain in her home without food, water or heat for more than 36 hours. She was found when Mrs. James Beauchamp, a neighbor noticed daily papers accumulated on the front porch. Mrs. Beauchamp and Mrs. Eva Finch another neighbor tried to enter the house but were unable to do so until Ivan Allen broke a window for them. Mrs. Hinds was complete paralyzed on her left side and unable to move. She was able to talk however and said she had tried to attract help by knocking on a widow. She is reported to be seriously ill as a result of the stroke and effects of exposure. A son, George Hinds of Perrysville and a granddaughter, Mrs. Ibetta Sinnell of near Waynetown are at her bedside and a daughter, Mrs. Lola Starnes is enroute from her home in Florida.
Note: this was in 1944 – she passed away in Danville, Verm Co IL and is buried in Atherton Cemetery there – her husband James W 1862-1935 – she was born in Gessie, Vermillion IN 24 Dec 1868 and died 18 March 1946. (FAGrave says father George Reynolds – mother Marintha Bainbridge).
