HIGHTOWER, John - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Wingate, March 26 – John M. Hightower, 80, resident of this place for many years died at his home here Friday night at 9 o’clock. His death was due to influenza from which he had been suffering for the past month.  The deceased was born at Gaston, Ind Sept 29, 1854 the son of William and Susan Hightower. He was married to Rebecca Pearson on Dec 21, 1876.  He was a member of the Wingate Christian Church.  The survivors include the wife, three daughters: Mrs. Etta Wilson and Mrs. Bert Zeigler of Wingate and Mrs. Bert Smith of Stanton, Mich; three sons: Tom Hightower of Hillsboro, Kelso Hightower of Wingate and Alfred Hightower at home; a sister, Mrs. Elvira Brown of Anderson; 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Two children died in infancy. The funeral services will be held at the Wingate Christian Church Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Rev. Sando in charge. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic cemetery.
