Waynetown -- Mrs. Gertrude Higbee, 78, died Monday, June 21, 1965, at her home, 1335 Nordyke Ave., Indianapolis, where she had lived for the past three years. She had been in failing health for several months. Born April 1, 1887, in Montgomery County, she was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Buckley. She lived both in Waynetown and Crawfordsville and attended the Crawfordsville schools. Mrs. Higbee was the widow of Fred W. Higbee, former Waynetown resident. A son, Paul, preceded her in death in May, 1962. A sister, Mrs. Elmer Follick, also preceded her in death. Word of her death was received by Mr. and Mrs. John E. Higbee of Crawfordsville. The survivors include a brother, William Buckley of Indianapolis, and two grandchildren, David Lee Higbee of New Jersey and Danny Higbee of North Carolina. Funeral services were held Friday morning at the Farley Funeral Home, Indianapolis, and at 9 a.m. at the Assumption Church, also at Indianapolis, after a rosary service Thursday evening.
