Robert D. Hickman, 79, of 606 E.
Summit St., Attica, died at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1997 at St.
Elizabeth Medical Center after a prolonged illness. Born July 17, 1918, in
Lafayette, he married Margaret Morrison on May 2, 1942 in Lafayette. She survives.
He was a lifelong resident of Lafayette. Mr. Hickman worked as a pipe fitter
for the Local Union 157. He later retired in 1982. He served in the Army from
1942 to 1945. Mr. Hickman was a member of the Attica Presbyterian Church and
the Eagles and Moose Lodges, both of Lafayette. Also surviving, are: a son,
Michael Moore of Lafayette; two daughters, Margaret Moelhman of Attica and Mrs.
Roy (Madonna) Hamilton of Hinsdale, N.Y.; two brothers, Donald Hickman of West
Point and Dennis Hickman of Lafayette; three sisters, Helen Snapp, Betty
Coffman and Mary Wilkinson, all of Lafayette; nine grandchildren and ten
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dilver Jr. and
Richard. Visitation was Friday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Service there
on Saturday with Pastor John DeSanto officiating. Interment in Farmer’s
Institute Cemetery. Graveside services American Legion Post 11. – jlr
