Attica—Leroy C. “Lee” Hickman, 89, 403 S. Perry St., Attica, died at 10:35 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 1989, in Meadow Heights Nursing Center, Williamsport, several hours after being admitted. He had been in failing health for the past year.

  He was born Aug. 27, 1899, near Winthrop, the son of John Riley and Elizabeth Farmer Hickman. He lived in Winthrop and Attica areas and had resided in Frankfort for 39 years, moving back to Attica six years ago. He attended school in Winthrop and Attica. He was married Feb. 4, 1929 in Attica to Golda Shamp, who survives.

  He was a switchman for the Western and Southern Railroad for 39 years, retiring in 1965. He worked with railroads from 1926 until his retirement. As a young man, he farmed in the Winthrop area in Warren County.

  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Attica; Brotherhood of Trainmen; Upper Level Senior Citizens of Attica and Eagles Lodge 916 in Frankfort.

  Surviving, besides his wife are a stepdaughter, Mrs. William (Wilma) Benson, Route 2, Attica; two step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a step grandson.

  Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Maus Funeral Home, Attica. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Maus Chapel with Dr. Earl D. Owen officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Attica. – thanks to S
