Hurley Hibbs, 90 of Mellott died Wednesday morning at Culver Hospital. He had been hospitalized a few days prior to his death but had been in poor health several years. Mr. Hibbs was a retired builder and farmer. He was born March 7, 1880 in Fountain County, the son of Robert M "Mitch" and Lavella Hibbs. He was married to Jessie Amanda Parkerson July 3, 1907 in Indianapolis. She preceded her husband in death Sept 12, 1965. Mr. Hibbs was also preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Florence Haxton. Survivors include a son, Buell Hibbs of Romney; 3 daughters, Mrs. Mercedes Banta of Martinsville; Mrs. Muriel McCreary of Indianapolis and Mrs. Esther Weaver and sevearl grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Bright & Burkhart Funeral Home, Crawfordsville. Burial in Coal Creek Union Cemetery at Newtown. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Thursday.
