HILLSBORO — Harold Lee Hesler,
604 E. Main St., Hillsboro, died at 4:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, 2000 in St.
Clare Medical Center, Crawfordsville. He had been in ill health for the past
three months. He was born Feb. 3, 1927 on the family farm near Hillsboro, the
son of Ralph and Della Myers Hesler. He married Eleanor Lee Cramer at his
parents home in Hillsboro on March 5, 1950. She survives. He was a life
resident of the Hillsboro community. He farmed around Hillsboro in Cain
Township, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Hillsboro Christian Church.
He had served on and was the former president of the Fountain County Sheriff's
Merit Board. He had served on the board of directors of the former Hillsboro
State Bank and the former Bank of Western Indiana, now known as Old National
Bank for 30 years. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Twin Lakes
Golf Club near Hillsboro. He loved to hunt, fish and play pool. Survivors,
besides the wife, include: two daughters, Karen (Robert) Simmons, Mellott and
Paula (Curtis L.) Hoagland, Hillsboro; two sons, Bradley (Cindy) Hesler and
Ralph D. “Doug" Hesler, both of Hillsboro; a half sister, Eileen (Charles)
Cantwell, La Jolla, Calif.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro,
with Pastor Don Hesler officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery,
Hillsboro. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. tonight
(Wednesday). Memorial contributions may be made to the Hillsboro Christian
