Hillsboro - Edward Hershberger, 87, custodian of Hillsboro School 21 years, died Monday morning in Allen Nursing Home, Attica. A native of of Fountain County, Mr. Hershberger was born June 6, 1873, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hershbarger. He married Minnie Cronk in 1900, who preceded him in death. He also was preceded in death by an infant son. In 1925 he married Della Bowman who died in 1959. The only survivor is a son who lives in Attica. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Crumley Funeral Home at Hillsboro. Rev. Ron Carlson will be the officiating minister. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday evening.
Hillsboro Times: Edward Hershberger, 87, a resident of Hillsboro the greater part of his life, died at the Allen Nursing Home in Attica at 9 a. m. Monday, where he had been a patient since April. For two years he had been in the Effie Bever nursing home in Hillsboro, following the death of his wife. He had been a medical patient in the Community Hospital in Williamsport a few weeks before his death. He was born in Fountain County Dec 5, 1873, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hershberger. He was married to Minnie Cronk in 1900 and she and an inf ant daughter preceded him in death. He was married to Della Bowman of Hillsboro in 1925 and she died June 6, 1959. Mr. Hershberger was custodian of the Hillsboro school building f or 21 years.
Survivors are one son Henry Hershberger of Attica. Rev. Ron Carlson conducted the funeral service held at the Crumley Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon. Organ music was by Mrs. Lucy Crumley and the pall bearers were Gerald LaBaw of Stone Bluff, Freeman Cronk, Tom Hightower, Morris Lowe, John Lowe and Cleve Walker. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro. – thanks to Betty D
