Lloyd Hersberger, 60, died three hours after a fatal crushed chest received in a tractor accidnet at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville. He was the son of Ross and Melissa Reed Hershberger and was born in Kansas. About 29 years ago, he married Golda Brown who survives together with a daughter, Margaret Summers and a boy reared by the Hershbergers, Billy Hershberger. An infant daughter, Doris Maxine preceded him. He is survived by a brother Claude and a sister Mrs. Ruby Stockdale, both of Hillsboro. Funeral services at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the New Liberty Church Southwest of Hillsboro. Burial in in Rose Hill Cemetery at Hillsboro. Special thanks to Dellie & Mariah for this one :)

Hillsboro – Crushing chest injuries received in a tractor accident here a few hours earlier proved fatal for Lloyd Hershberger, 60 at 3 p.m. Saturday in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville. Hershberger was injured about 10:30 a.m. Saturday while digging a basement with a tractor at the former John Henthorne farm southwest of Hillsboro which he recently purchased. The tractor slid into a hole pinning Hershberger between the foundation of the house and the steering gear. Removed to the office of Dr. Owens at Veedersburg he was given emergency treatment and later taken to the hospital at Danville. The son of Ross and Melissa Reed Hershberger he was born in Kansas but came to Hillsboro as a young boy. About 29 years ago he was married to Gold Brown who survives together with a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Summers and a boy reared by the Hershbergers, Billy Hershberger who just returned two weeks ago from Hawaii where he was stationed with the armed forces. An infant daughter, Doria Maxine preceded him in death. A brother, Claude Hershberger and a sister, Mrs. Ruby Stockdale both of Hillsboro also survive. - kbz
