ATTICA — Lethel Mae (Hughey) Hershberger, 94, 910 S. Council St., Attica, died at 7:40 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999 in Woodland Manor Nursing Center, Attica. Born Sept. 28, 1904 in Veedersburg, she was the daughter of William Henry Harrison and Alice Bailey Hughey. She married Henry E. Hershberger Jan. 1, 1926 in Veedersburg. He preceded her in death Jan. 17, 1991. She graduated from Veederburg High School in 1924 and was a 1926 graduate of Indiana Business College. She resided in Hillsboro for several years and relocated to Attica in the fall of 1929. She was employed as an accountant for the Attica Motor Co. for 37 years. Prior to that she worked at Purdue University. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Attica. She was a charter member of the Altar Guild and Wesleyan Circle and was financial secretary of the church for seven and one-half years. She was co-founder of the Thrift Shop of the Church and devoted many hours to its operation. She was a member of the Attica Chapter 125 O.E.S., where she served as past worthy matron; past president of the Attica Business and Professional Women's Club; and Community Hospital Guild in which she spent many wonderful hours working and doing the purchasing in the Guild Shop when it opened. Survivors include: sister, Ruth Green, Crawfordsville; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two brothers; and a sister. Funeral services were at 7 p.m. Friday at Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. Jeff Newton officiating. Chapel service and entombment were at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Washington Park Cemetery East in Indianapolis. Memorial contributions can be made to the Attica First United Methodist Church. – jlr
