HERSHBERGER, Lee - 1907

Lee Hershberger, only son of Mr. And Mrs. Bloomer Hershberger residing 4 and one-half miles southwest of Veedersburg was thrown from a wagon in a runaway accident Monday after noon about 4 o’clock and instantly killed. The accident occurred about 4 miles south of Covington. Lee with his father had been hauling lumber with a team and wagon. Near the residence of William Kilbey, the team took fright at some object along the road and started to run away, young Hershberger being thrown out on the ground the wheels passing over him. Upon examination it was later found that his skull had been fractured. The father escaped from the wagon with nothing more than severe bruises. Lee was one of two children of Mr. and Mrs. Hershberger being survived by his parents, one sister, an aged grandmother and many friends who are sincerely grieved at his sad and tragic death. The young man was 21 years of age and was a promising young fellow of much intelligence. - s
