Covington – Henry P. Herman, Jr. 49 of 1513 Liberty St died at 5:50 a.m. Sunday Dec 19 in United Samaritan Medical Center, Logan Campus, Danville, Ill. Mr. Herman was principal at Covington HS from 1979 – 1984; assistant principal at Hanover HS from 1976-1979; a Doctoral Fellow at Ball State 1975-1976; counselor at Waldron HS from 1969-1971. Before that he taught in Savannah, Ga. Born May 5, 1944 in Toscaloosa, Ala he had live din Covington since July 1979 moving here from Hanover. He was a graduate of Tuscaloos HA and Univ. of Alabama.  He rec’d his masters from Indiana State University and doctorate from Ball State.  He married Barbara Welch May 31, 1969. She survives. Mr. Herman was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Terre Haute, attended First United Methodist in Covington and was the former president and secretary of the Optimist Club in Hanover. He was a member of MENSA, Illiana Antique Auto Club, Stroke Survivors Support Group and other professional and educational organizations. Also surviving daughter, Margaret F. Herman of Terre Haute and mother, Ora Virginia Hobson Herman of Tuscaloosa. Services are Wed in Covington. - kbz
