VEEDERSBURG — John C. "Jack" Hering, 50, 106 N. Newlin St., Veedersburg, died unexpectedly at noon Wednesday after suffering a heart attack. He had been a jobber for Phillips 66 Petroleum Co. of Indianapolis for 20 years in this community. He was a graduate of Veedersburg High School and attended Wabash College. Mr. Hering served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Veedersburg; Charles Forrest Post 288, American Legion; Veedersburg Masonic Lodge 491; Western Indiana Shrine Club; Scottish Rite of Terre Haute; Zorah Temple Shrine of Terre Haute; Parke County Low 12, Indiana Oil Association of Indianapolis, and Veedersburg Volunteer Fire Department. He was born June 30, 1922, in Three Rivers, Mich., the son of Julius J. and Cleo Sherer Hering. He was married to Wanda Ruth Songer June 3, 1945, in Veedersburg. Survivors include the widow; a son, John G. at home; one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Pamela) German of Crawfordsville; an aunt, Mrs. Lillian Wortinger of Three Rivers, Mich., and several nieces and nephews and their children. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Hubert Neth of Warrenburg, Mo., officiating. Burial will be in Bonebrake Cemetery near Veedersburg where military graveside rites will be conducted. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Parham Funeral Home.  --typed by Walt W
