Veedersburg -- Mrs. Cleo Hering, age 75, a former resident of this community, suffered a fatal heart attack at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, in Punta Gorda, Fla., where she and her husband, John, had resided the past seven years. Mr. and Mrs. Hering moved from Veedersburg to Punta Gorda after Mr. Hering retired as Phillips 66 distributor in this area. Mrs. Hering was born Dec, 16, 1887 in Veedersburg, the daughter of Calvin and Lillie Earl Scherer. She was married Nov. 22, 1911 to John J. Hering, who survives. The Herings celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary while visiting here two years ago. The body will be brought to the Parham Funeral Home here where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. August Stork will officiate.
