James Edward Hendrickson, age 81, of Brazil, a former resident of Covington and father of James S. (Jim) Hendrickson, owner and operator of the East End Grocery in Covington, died at 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, in the Clay County Hospital in Brazil. He was born May 7, 1883 in Knightsville, Ind., the son of Sam and Sarah Torr Hendrickson. He resided in Danville, Ill., until 1948 when he retired from the C&EI Railroad. He moved to Covington that year and later moved to Brazil where he resided at 122 Turner Avenue. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, Brazil Order of Eagles, Masonic Lodge of Covington and the Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis. Mr. Hendrickson is survived by: one daughter, Mrs. H. D. (Virginia) McMillin of Danville, Ill.; two sons, Jim of Covington and Joe H. of Brazil; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Frank Hendrickson of Brazil. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie D., in May, 1961. The body is at the Moore Funeral Home in Brazil where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday.
