HENDERSON, Erville

COVINGTON — Erville H. Henderson 80, Rt. 4, Veedersburg, a Richland Township farmer for 35 years, died at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He had been a patient one week and had been in ill health for the past year. Mr. Henderson was born Jan. 14, 1888, in Freedom, Ind., the son of Thomas and Emma Boruff Potter Henderson. He was married twice; first, to Cecil Ogden who preceded him in death June 5,1946; then, to Vida Jennings on June 16, 1948, who survives. He was a member of the Seventh St. Church of Christ in Covington. He lived in the Henning, Ill., community and graduated from school there. He had farmed in the Bismark, Ill., area and later owned and operated a grocery store at Jamesburg, Ill., for several years before moving to the present address. He was a member of the American Shorthorn Breeders Assoc., the Fountain County Farm Bureau, the Fountain County Historical Society and the Vermillion County, Ill., Builders Assoc. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are two sons, Thomas L., Rt. 4, Veedersburg and Julius H., Kankakee, Ill. Seven grandchildren also survive. Friends may call Wednesday afternoon and evening at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington, where funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday.
