Zone Allen Helms, 82, of Veedersburg Route 4, died Saturday Jan. 8, 1977 at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette ,where he had been a patient a day. Mr. Helms formerly served as Fountain County auditor. A life resident of Shawnee Township, he farmed in the area before retiring. Mr. Helms was a graduate of Attica High and a member of the Union Christian Church. Born Dec. 17, 1894 in Veedersburg, he was a son of Frank and Minnie Palin Helms. On Dec. 24, 1932, in Veedersburg, he married Lyda Haverstick who survives. Other survivors include a son, Gale of Veedersburg Route 4; a daughter, Mrs. Victor (Betty) Kerkhove of Attica; two sisters, Mrs. Ed (Fern) Brown of Attica and Mrs. Charles (Elta) McCauley of Newtown, and four grand children. Services at the Dale Maus Funeral Home in Attica, with John Robert Walder officiating. Burial in the Union Christian Cemetery east of Aylesworth. - waw

Zone Allen Helms, 82, a former Fountain County Auditor, died at 8 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 1977 in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He had been hospitalized one day.
  A native of Veedersburg and a lifelong resident of Shawnee Township, Mr. Helms was a graduate of Attica High School and in 1932 was married to Lyda M. Haverstick, who survives.
  Mr. Helms was a member of Union Christian Church.
  Surviving with the widow are one son, Gale Helms of Veedersburg; one daughter, Mrs. Victor (Betty) Kerkhove of Attica; and two sisters, Mrs. Ed (Fern) Brown of Attica and Mrs. Charles (Zealta) McCauley of Newtown.
  Also surviving are four grandchildren. One brother and one sister preceded him in death.
  Services were at the Dale Maus Funeral Home in Attica. John Robert Walder officiated and burial was in the Union Christian Cemetery east of Aylesworth.
