VEEDERSBURG— Mrs. Maud Helms, 83, a resident of this community for more than 65 years, died at 2 a.m. Thursday in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Lafayette after a lengthy illness. She had been in the hospital one day. Mrs. Helms was a member of the United Methodist Church of Veedersburg. She was a native of Sheridan, Ill., born Nov. 12, 1884, a daughter of John W. and Mary Elizabeth (Beer) Fewry. She married Wert S. Helms Nov. 27, 1904. He died Nov. 19, 1959. Surviving are two brothers, Roy Fewry of Attica and Ray Fewry of South Bend, and a sister, Mrs. Bessie Mortimore of South Bend. Funeral services will be held at Fishero Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Ivan Steed officiating. Interment will be in Rockfield Cemetery.
