Source: The obituary is from a collection by Fauniel Hershberger, saved the 1950's, 60's and 70's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.
Dated 1931

On June 17, 1869, the home of Geo. W. and Margaret Ann (Chumlea) Helms, near Veedersburg, Indiana, was gladdened by the birth of their first son, Frank Monroe Helms. The parents, being pioneers of Fountain county, began house keeping at the place known as the old Cochran Homestead, later purchasing ground and building a home about four miles southeast of Veedersburg. Here Monroe grew to manhood, spending his early school days at Bonebrake Corner, later attending the Terre Haute Normal. His home and life was blessed by the companionship of five brothers and three sisters. His father, mother, brother Deal, and sister Mabel, preceded him to the Great Beyond. Those remaining are namely: Veeder, Vernon, Mrs. Edna Sample, Mrs. Fannie Reath, Charlie and Hardie, the latter two being twins. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. The news of the sad and tragic accident in the late evening of May 20, which caused his death and that of his fellow companion, George Franklin Dobbs, came as a great shock to their many friends. George was killed almost instantly, and Monroe was unconscious until taken to the home of his brother, Hardie, where medical aid was at once given and where he was very tenderly cared for, but all that medical skill or loving hands could do was of no avail, and he passed away in the early twilight of the following day, May 21, being at the time of his death 61 years, 11 months and 4 days of age. Practically his entire life was spent in the community in which he was born and where he had many friends, as he was known for his kind-heartedness and generosity. He was of a jovial disposition and ever ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. At the time of his death, he was employed by the Indiana Condensed Milk Company. This position he held for a number of years. The funeral, in charge of undertaker Harry Fishero, was held at the Bonebrake Corner church, Saturday at 10 o'clock, with the Rev. Mack Reed officiating. Music was rendered by Mrs. Monte Boatman and Mrs. Ralph Boatman and Mrs. Ralph Nelson, with organ accompaniment by Mrs. Jack Cook. Pall bearers were brothers and nephews of the deceased. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery and was attended by a great number of relatives and friends.  --typed by Walt W
