HELMS, Dean J. - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Dean (Doan) J. Helms, 72, of Attica died at 12:40 a.m. Sunday, Jan 21. He had been ill several years. He was born in Shawnee Township, Fountain County Dec 20, 1895 the son of Rank (Frank) and Minnie Palin Helms. He resided on his small farm where he was born until moving to Attica on September 12, 1967. A retired farmer he attended Attica High School. He was a retired farmer and attended Attica High School. He was a lifetime member of Union Christian Church. He married on June 23, 1917 in Mellott to Reina Keefer who survives. Surviving also are two sons, F.W. (Billy) Helms of Milwaukee Wis; Dean J Helms, Jr. of Naperville, Illinois and one brother, Zone Helms of Veedersburg Rt 4; two sisters, Mrs. Ed (Fern) Brown of Attica and Mrs. Zealta McCauley of Newtown and five grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the DeSutter Funeral Home here, the Rev. Harry Randolph of Attica Christian Church officiated with burial at Riverside Cemetery.
