HILLSBORO-- Philip Helmick, 74, died at 4:25 a.m. Wednesday in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Lafayette. He had been in failing health for several months. He was a member of the Hillsboro Town Board and employed at the Hillsboro Post Office until his last illness. He was retired from the State Highway Department and moved to Hillsboro from Mellott in 1942. Mr. Helmick was born Dec. 12, 1895, at Mitchell to Elmer N. and Margaret Peevler Helmick. He was married to Alice Crumley on Sept. 24, 1924, near Mellott. Survivors include his wife and a son, Tom of Los Angeles, Calif. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Crumley-Williams Funeral Home at Hillsboro, with Rev. Dorman Winger officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
