HEISTAND, John Wesley

John Wesley Hiestand, the oldest son of Henry and Elizabeth Hiestand was born Feb 14, 1857 in Fountain County, Indiana living there until the spring of 1890, moving to Iroquois Township, Newton County.  On July 7, 1880 he was married to Mary Alsinia Moore and to this union was born one son, Joseph E. He reared one step daughter, Mrs. Olive K. Martin of Monon.  He leaves one son and wife, six grand children, one stepdaughter, one brother and three sisters, who reside in Missouri and a host of relatives and friends. When a young man he united with the United Brethren Church and has not been able to attend owing to his affliction.  He was a good husband, a kind father and neighbor.  He departed this life on June 3, 1937 at the age of 80 years 3 months and 20 days. Services were conducted at the Christian Church of Brook, Rev. BE Chambers officiating.  Burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. – kbz
