Covington - William Clisten Hegg, 74, 1030 Orchard Dr, Covington died at 10:10 a.m. June 20, 1996 in the VA Medical Center, Danville, Ill. He was born April 9, 1922 at Covington, the son of Ambrose and Ollie Roth Hegg. He married Norma Jean Bantz June 10, 1977 at Covington where they made their home. He graduated from Covington HS class of 1940 where he attended all 12 years. He served in the Navy 5 years during WWII with Lion Four Land Installation of Navy 3205 with two years on Manus Island and three years in the Reserve Unit at Danville, Ill. He worked 45 years with Davies Meat Packers in Danville and Hygrade Meat Packers in Chicago (now Sara Lee). He retired in 1985 and traveled the U.S. with his wife. He was a member of the First Church of Christ at Covington and Fountain County Old Guard VFW Post 2395 of Covington and American Legion Post 291. Surviving besides the wife are children by his former deceased wife, Ruth Roach Hegg, a son, Clifford (Linda) Hegg, grandson Clifford (Amy) Hegg, granddaughter, Jennie (Brandon) Starkey and a great grandson Cody Starkey all of Danville, Ill; son William (Debbie) Hegg, grandson Clisten Hegg all of Terre Huate; sister, Lois (Robert) Dunagan, Rantoul, Ill and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by parents, two brothers and a granddaughter. Funeral services were held at 5 p.m. Saturday in the First Church of Christ, 5th St, Covington. Interment after cremation was at 3 p.m. Monday in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville, Ill. Shelby Funeral Home.
