COVINGTON, Ind. (CNS)

H. Robert Hegg, 48, a Covington funeral director for the past 24 years, died at 4:10 p.m. Sunday (March 4, 1973) at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He had been hospitalized Saturday morning. Born Oct. 3, 1924, in Covington, he was the son of Heber and Minnie Zimmerman Hegg. He was married Feb. 9, 1951, to Betty Carns, who survives. A 1942 graduate of Covington High, he attended Indiana University and graduated from the Indiana College of Mortuary Science in 1948. He was deputy coroner of Fountain County. He was a 25-year member of Masonic lodge F&AM 60, past chancellor-commander of the Knights of Pythias, past commander of the Veterans of Foreign War and a member of the Fulton-Banta American Legion Post 299, United Methodist Church and Wabash Moonlighters, all of Covington. He was a veteran of World War II, in which he served in the Navy in the Pacific for four years. Other survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Peter (Linda) Bodine of Lafayette, Mrs. Gordon (Jane) Kiger, Barbara, Kathy and Sally, all at home; a son, Scott at home; his mother, Mrs. Minnie Cade of Covington, and two grandchildren. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. EST Wednesday at the Hegg Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Miller officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, with military graveside rites. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Monday and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.  --typed by Walt W
