HEGG, Frederick - KIA - Korea?

A1C Frederick William Hegg, 33, formerly of Veedersburg and serving with the Air Force in Germany was reported Saturday to have been killed instantly by gunshot June 8. Mrs. Edna Hegg of near Veedersburg received a telegram from the Defense Department Thursday notifying her of his death in West Baden, Germany where he was serving with the 7100th Air Police Squadron. Mrs. Hegg said the telegram gave no details except that her son was killed instantly by gunshot. The body was expected to arrive in the United States June 30 and will be brought to Fishero Funeral Home in Veedersburg for services. Airman Hegg was born Aug 21, 1922, at Covington, son of Sprousen and Edna Henderson Hegg and was reared in the Veedersburg area. At the time of his enlistment, he was employed in Indianapolis. He was a member of Veedersburg Christian Church. Surviving in addition to the mother are the grandfather, George Henderson and two brothers, Quentin of Peoria, Ill and Ronald of Phoenix, Ariz. – kbz
