HEATH, Elbert

Elbert, eldest son of Samuel and Margaret Marks Heath, was born in Liberty Township, November 5th, 1869. Died November 7th, 1947 in his home in Tangier, Indiana, aged 78 years and 2 days. He was married April 5th, 1893 to Miss Fronia Norris and they were the parents of two sons. Mr. Heath was a farmer and lived his entire life in the township in which he was born.
A few years ago, on account of failing health, he retired, moving to Tangier. He was educated in the schools of his generation and was a firm believer in the Baptist faith and practiced its teaching, being a kind husband and father, an obliging neighbor and friend. A quiet, unassuming man, devoted to his family and home. During the last few months his health failed rapidly. Care of family, doctors, specialists and hospital were all tried but failed to stay the hand of death or still its call. It was God’s time for Elbert Heath to come home, and true to the belief and training of his forefathers, he was willing to obey the call. Another member of a pioneer family of our community has gone, leaving to mourn their loss, his devoted wife; two sons, Ferris, of Tangier and Tom of Kingman with their wives; one granddaughter, Carmen, of whom he was so proud; two sisters, Mrs. Emma McCord and Mrs. Hattie Smith, both of Veedersburg; one brother, Dr. Samuel H. Heath, of Denver, Colorado; and one half brother, Aaron Heath of Los Angeles, California. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and one brother, John. He also leaves nieces, nephews and other relatives with many friends. May he rest in peace and his good deed be long remembered.
