Mildred Ilene Hazelbaker, 86, of
Danville, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at Provena United Samaritans
Medical Center. Mildred was born March 13, 1921, in Danville, daughter of Elmer
and Dora (Meeks) Worley. She married Estol “Bus” Hazelbaker on May 4, 1939, in
Oakwood. He preceded her in 1991. She is survived by six children: William
(Marylou) Hazelbaker of Powhatan, Va., Charles (Pat) Hazelbaker of Fithian,
Robert (Rachael) Hazelbaker of Bellevue, Ohio, Martha (Harold) Hunt of Fithian,
Phyllis (Roy) Holt of Covington, Ind., and Karen Bibb of Greenwood, Ind.; 18
grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, five stepgreat-grandchildren and two
great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one
daughter, Nancy Hazelbaker; two brothers, William Worley and Elmer Worley Jr.;
and four sisters, Wanda Burton, Bernetia Miller, Nellie Richey and Margaret Hardy.
Mildred attended schools in Danville and worked at Aerosol Techniques until
retiring in 1984. She was a member of Church of God in Danville for a number of
years, and served as president of the Ladies Auxiliary for several years. She
enjoyed reading her Bible, sewing, gardening, tending to her flowers, crafts of
all kinds, especially making handmade dolls, cooking for her family and is
famous for her homemade noodles and fried chicken. A celebration of Mildred's
life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Sunset Funeral Home &
Cremation Center. 3940 N. Vermilion St. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m.
Friday, March 14 at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Oakwood
Cemetery in Oakwood, Ill. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
