COVINGTON -- Sy (Floyd) Hayes, age 61, a resident of Covington Rt. 2, was dead-on-arrival at 10:20 a.m. Friday, June 25, at Lake View Memorial Hospital in Danville, Ill. He became ill in his automobile in downtown Danville and death was attributed to a heart attack, according to Coroner Don Goodwin of Danville. Mr. Hayes was born April 7, 1910, in Minot, N. D., the son of Cecil and Pauline Henje Hayes. He married Veeda Rentz on Dec. 17, 1932 in Danville and she survives. He owned and operated the Sy Hayes Garage in Danville for 35 years. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: one sister, Mrs. Ruth Hardy of Danville and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Barrick & Son Funeral Home in Danville. The Rev. James Allison officiated and burial was in Sunset Memorial Park, north of Danville. --typed by Walt W
