HAYDEN, Lorean Phelps

Danville, Ill.—Lorean Hayden, 76, Pasadena, Calif., formerly of Danville, died at 6:20 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 1989 at Hunnington Memorial Hospital, Pasadena.
She was born March 17, 1913 in Paris, Tenn., the daughter of Ballard H. and Lucille Kirby Phelps. She was married Sept. 23, 1929 in Covington to Arthur b. Hayden, who preceded her in death April 28, 1973.
She was a former member of the Allen Chapel AME Church in Danville, where she had played the piano and organ. She also was the director of various church choirs. Her special interests were music, church work, cooking, traveling, sports, and she was an avid bridge player.
Surviving are two daughters, Beverly Woodard, Danville, and Joyce Fletcher, Los Angeles, Calif.; Three sons, Gordon “Rock”, Hollywood, Calif.; Roland J., Cleveland, Ohio, and Victor C., Las Cruces, N. M.; one sister, Juanita Burns, Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, Bill Phelps, Danville, and James Phelps, Chicago; 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, four sons, one daughter and one sister.
Funeral services were at noon Saturday, June 17, at Allen Chapel AME Church in Danville with the Rev. David R. Jarrett officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
