HAYDEN, John M. - WWII

John M. Hayden of Covington, age 58, died Wednesday morning, February 9, in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Illinois. He was born at Covington, September 25, 1924, the son of John Franklin and Ruth Edna Baldwin Hayden. February 23, 1947, he married Kathryn Marie Thomason, who survives. He was a member of the Covington Assembly of God Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and former deacon and Sunday school superintendent. He served two years in the Air Force during World War II.

  Hayden was proprietor of Hayden Coal and Ice Company in Covington from 1945 to 1964 and from then on was owner of Hayden Plumbing and Heating Company in Covington.

  Also surviving are a son, J. Steven of Springfield, Illinois; three sisters, Doris High of Cayuga, Jean Goodwin of Waxahachie, Texas, and Betty Olson of Canton, Michigan.

  The body was taken from Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington to the First Assembly of God Church for funeral services Friday morning with Rev. Edgar Allen and Rev. Larry Lund officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery at Covington. – thanks to S
