Charles Hayden who lived on the Jesse Mitchell farm north of Byron was found hanged to a small tree in the Cemetery at Wolf Creek Primitive Baptist church, W. of Grange Corner on Tues morning by George Burkhart whose farm adjoins the church property. It is thought that he hanged himself on Friday as he has been missing since that time but was supposed to be visiting his brother in Attica. There were evidences that he had first tried to kill himself by piping the exhaust into his closed car. The tree to which he hanged himself was small and he must have strangled by the weight of his body which was not suspended. Mr. Burkhart had noticed the car there the day before, but had not gone near enough to discover the body. The body was brought here and prepared for burial at which took place this morning at the Wolf Creek Cemetery where his mother, Mrs. Margaret Hayden, was buried about a year ago. It is thought that grief over his mother's death had something to do with the rash deed. - kbz
