Rochester – William “Max” Haworth, 82. 787 W. 8th St, Rochester, died early Friday morning, Nov 5, 1993 at his residence.  He had been in failing health for sometime.  He was born July 23, 1911 at Attica, the son of Wallace and Lessie Smith Haworth.  He married Martha E. Dreher, Oct 13, 1934 at Rochester. She survives.  He had lived in Attica before moving to Rochester 58 years ago.  He attended Purdue University. He was a retired building contractor and was owner of the former Rochester Lumber Co.  He was a charter member of Rochester Lions Club, Rochester Masonic Lodge, Grace United Methodist Church and Scottish Rite. He was a former member of Rochester School board.  He was formerly active in the Rochester Kiwanis Club, Easgles Lodge, Elks and Manitou Moose Lodges and a former Rochester Fire Department volunteer fireman.  He hosted the first Rochester HS foreign exchange student, Francois Meessin of Paris France, 1960-61.  Surviving besides the wife, are four sons: William E. Haworth, Oak Park, Ill; Robert M. Haworth, Rochester; Thomas I. Haworth, Lafayette; John W. Haworth, Rochester; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren and a sister, Grace (James) Carr, Rochester. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard L. Haworth in 1946.  Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Zimmerman Family Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Ricks assisted by the Rev. Jack Hartman.  Burial was in Rochester IOOF Cemetery. - kbz
