John Hawn, 22, Navy veteran died at 8 a.m. Tuesday in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville of injuries suffered in an auto accident at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Colletown, north of Cayuga on the Eugene Road. His brother, Robert Hawn, 20 also a Navy veteran suffered a lacerated forehead and was dismissed from the hospital after treatment. The car, driven by Roobert Hawn left the road, crashed through a picket fence and struck a large tree on the front lawn of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Shelato a few feet from their house It had been swerved from the road to avoid hitting pedestrians, according to witnesses. Both youths were taken to the hospital in the Watson ambulance. Coroner John Cole, Danville, started an investigation of the accident Tuesday but set no time for the inquest. Both youths were treated by Dr. AE Dale, Danville and Dr. RE Brown, Cayuga. The body of the victim was taken to the Fishero Funeral Home Veedersburg to await funeral arrangements. He was the son of John F. and Martha Holden Hawn, RR, Kingman. He had served three and one half years in the Navy at Iowa Jima and Okinawa and had reenlisted for service in the Merchant Marine. Robert Hawn was discharged from the Navy two weeks ago. The deceased veteran was born Aug 3, 1923 in Parke County and was an electrician before entering the Navy. Surviving besides his parents are another brother, Freddie 14 and two sisters, Alma Jean, 16 and Katherine 17.
