Special to the Kingman Star from Cayuga, Indiana – Glen David Hawn, age 36 was shot and killed about 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday night, Nov 27th at his home in the brickyard district southwest of Cayuga. The death weapon was a .22 rifle.  The bullet entered just above the right temple and lodged.  It was removed by Dr. SC Darroch at the autopsy held on Wed morning at the Watson Funeral Home.  At the hearing held on Wed morning at the Watson Funeral Home by State Trooper Robert Conley., Sheriff Loren Griffen and Coroner Howard Watson, no decision was reached. It was disclosed that the widow, Mrs. Flossie Hawn was the only person at home at the time of the shooting. Following the shooting she ran to the Ian Peterson home to summon help. Mrs. Hawn was in a hysterical state and so far has not been able to give a coherent testimony.  It is known that the couple had had some domestic trouble and that some time ago Hawn had filed for a divorce, later he withdrew the suit. The inquest is pending. The investigation is being made by Conley, Griffin, Watson and detective Harold Rosenberry. Glen David Hawn was born Jan 13, 1909, son of David Hawn and Nellie Kyger Hawn in Vermillion County, Indiana. He was married to Thelma Petit, who died in Feb 1939, leaving three children of this union surviving.  On Sept 15, 1941, he was married to Flossie Miller. He was employed by the C&EI RR as a section hand. Surviving are the widow, Flossie, 5 children: Delores; Robert; Larry; Kenneth and Billy whose ages range from 11 to 2; the mother, Mrs. Nellie Hawn of the Horseshoe neighborhood with whom the daughter, Delores made her home; 3 sisters, Mrs. Sarah Hinton, Ridgefarm; Mrs. Blanche Jennings, California and Mrs. Elsie Traphagen of Vermont; three brothers, Gleason of Alexandria, Ind; Russel of Ft. Bragg, NC and Forrest whose APO is San Francisco and is thought to be on his way home.  Funeral services will be held on Friday Nov 30th at 2 at the Hopewell Friend’s Church. Services will be in charge of the Rev. Everet Gerarrd. Burial will be in the Hopewell cemetery with Watson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The body will remain at the Watson Funeral Home until the hour of the services. - kbz
