HILLSBORO, Ind. (CNS) — Samuel I. Hawkins, 89, of Hillsboro, died at 10 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 19, 1969) at the Clinton County Hospital in Frankfort. He had been ill one year. Born Mar. 2, 1879, near Veedersburg, he was the son of Clayburn and Hester Wilson Hawkins. He was married at Danville, Ill. to Alice Zimmerman, who preceded him in death in April 1967. He attended Valparaiso University at Valparaiso and Indiana State University in Terre Haute and taught school for 30 years before retiring in 1930. He was a member of the Cooper's Chapel Church and the Indiana State Retired Teacher's Association. Mr. Hawkins is survived by a son, Dale of Frankfort, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, two brothers, and a sister. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Morris Finch officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday. --typed by Walt W
