James J. Hatton, 79, Covington, died at 5 p.m. Saturday, December 10, at Covington Manor Nursing Home.
Born October 10, 1904 near McLeansboro, Illinois, he was the son of John Charles and Mary Carey Hatton. On March 1, 1936, he married Lucile Welch, who survives. A Danville, Illinois resident for 33 years, he attended Dale, Illinois, schools and was a member of the International Typographical Union since 1929. He was formerly employed at The Daily Register in Harrisburg, Illinois, the Indiana Daily Student at Bloomington, and the Danville Commercial News. He moved to Covington in 1977.
Survivors include a brother, John R. Hatton of Deer Creek, Illinois, and a sister, Mrs. Herbert Young of Glendale, Arizona. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Services were conducted Wednesday at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. J. Briggs King officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery in Covington. -s-
