HATHAWAY, Ora Otis

Ora Otis Hathaway, Covington, died 4:55 p.m. Saturday at his home. He had been in failing health for several years.
  He was born Feb. 13, 1892, in Vermilion County, Ill., the son of Isaac L. and Sina Oliver Hathaway. He was married Feb. 26, 1919, to Virgie Holycross, who survives.

  Also surviving are two sons, Francis and Russel, both of Danville, Ill., two daughters, Mrs. Lelon (Opal) DeWitt and Mrs. Donald (Shirley) Gibson, both of Danville, Ill. Eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive. He was the last of a family of ten children and was also preceded in death by a granddaughter.

  He was a farmer all his life and retired in 1950. He resided in the Covington area for 24 years and was a former resident of the Union Corner neighborhood. He was an army veteran of World War I.

  Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. Grover Williams officiating. Burial was at Lower Mound Cemetery. -s
