HART, I. W.
Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal Thursday, 27 March 1873
Capt. I W. Hart, well known throughout the District and State, died at Danville, Illinois, on Tuesday of last week, to which place he had lately removed from Attica. The Attica Ledger says he had been in failing health since last summer, and recently had suffered from ague, but the immediate cause of his death was the swelling and suppuration of his tonsils. He had been abed the most of his time for several days, but was not thought to be dangerously ill. Asking to be raised up, that he might drink, the discharge from the tonsils seemed to pass into his windpipe, and choked him. He remarked, “All is growing dark—I’m dying” and expired in a few moments. -s
