Hillsboro Mrs. Reta Harshbarger, 71, of Hillsboro, died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Ben Hur Nursing Home in Crawfordsville. She had been a patient at Culver Hospital before entering the nursing home about a week ago. The deceased was the daughter of Daniel P. and Mary Harmon Swank. She was born in Montgomery County Feb. 26, 1891. Mrs. Harshbarger was married Feb. 16, 1916, to Lester Harshbarger, who died in 1948. She was a member of the Hillsboro Methodist Church, Fern Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Dorcas Temple of Pythian Sisters, the American Legion Auxiliary, WSCS, Home Demonstration Club and Gold Star Mothers. Surviving are three sons, Donald, Paul and Harold, all of Veedersburg; one sister, Mrs. Lucy Humphreys of Crawfordsville, and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Russell, who was killed in the African Campaign of World War II in 1942, and Earl, who died in infancy. Funeral services will be conducted at the Crumley Funeral Home here at 2 p.m. Friday in charge of Rev. Ron Carlson. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery near Elmdale. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday afternoon and evening.
