Bloomingdale – Mrs. Ruth Harris, 54, died at her home in Bloomingdale at 7:30 a.m. Thursday. She had suffered a broken neck in two  places April 10 while visiting at the home of her son, Kenneth of Newcastle and had been in Union Hospital, Terre Haute until four weeks ago she was removed to her home. She was born Nov 27, 1891 in Edgar County Ill the daughter of Elisha and Jennie McCalmont Bowling and was married Jan 4, 1913 to Samuel Harris. Survivors include her husband, two sons, Kenneth of Newcastle and Malcolm at home; a daughter, Vivian Hoyt, Bloomingdale; three sisters, Mrs. Brownie Wilson and Mrs. Nettie Kearns, Dana and Mrs. Scott Lee, Marshall.  A brother, Walter Bowling, McCall, Ida; two grandchildren, Beverly and Carolyn Hoyt. Her parents preceded her in death.  She was a member of the Christian Church at Bloomingdale.  Short funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the home with services also being held at Tennessee Valley Baptist Church near Dana, at 2:30 Saturday with Rev. Mr. Stringer officiating. Interment was in the Helt’s Prairie Cemetery with OM Davies Funeral Home of Marshall in charge.  – kbz
