CRAWFORDSVILLE — Onda M. Harris, 90, Crawfordsville, died at 10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2007 in Woodland Manor Nursing Home, Attica. She was born July 18, 1916 near Mellott, the daughter of David Wallace Duncan and Alpha Riley. She married Alfred Rice Harris Nov. 10, 1935. He preceded in death in 1996. She was a graduate of Mellott High School. She owned and operated the Christian Supply Center in Crawfordsville for 18 years. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Merchants Association, serving as president for two years; she belonged to the Crawfordsville Business and Professional Women, holding many offices including president; was a member of the Board of Directors for the Indiana Federation of Business and Professional Women and served as state president in 1978-1979; Hopewell Baptist Church in Newtown, where she had served as clerk, treasurer and teacher over many years; the National Genealogical Society; the Indiana Genealogical Society; the Indiana Historical Society; and other local organizations. Survivors include: two adopted daughters, Joan Rogers, Attica and Martha (Gail) Krise, Veedersburg; and a foster son, David Ronk, Greenwich, Ohio; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ada; and a brother, Harvey. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday in Shoemaker Funeral Home, Waynetown, with the Rev. Jerry Miller officiating. Burial was in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church. – jlr
