WEST LEBANON, Ind. (CNS) -- Lura Ellen Harris, 99, of the Wildwood Sanitarium and Hospital at Wildwood, Ga., died there at 1:30 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 17, 1972). Born Aug. 22, 1873, near Hoopeston, she was the daughter of D. W. and Mary Jane Scoonover Reed. Her early years were spent at West Lebanon where her father owned the Reed House. She graduated from West Lebanon High in 1892. She was married to John Randolph Harris, who died in 1927. Her married life was spent in Newtown where her husband was postmaster. She also had resided in Danville, Ill., from 1921 to 1968 when she moved to Georgia. Mrs. Harris was supervisor for the Vermilion County Children's Home, girls' division for a year and a half and over the girls and boys both for six and a half years. She was a member of the Lincoln United Methodist Church of Danville, where she served as president of the Women's Foreign Missionary Society and was a Sunday school teacher for 28 years. Survivors include a son, William of Lafayette; a daughter, Mrs. Ralph J. (Pauline) Berry of Danville; four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Helen, preceded her in death. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Wednesday at the Fisher Funeral Home in Williamsport. Burial will be in Newtown Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service. --typed by Walt W
