Joseph M. Harris, 80, of Waynetown, a resident of Fountain County for a number of years died at the Wayne Hotel in Waynetown, at 9 a.m. Sunday, July 28. He had resided at the hotel the past month and death was due to uremic poisoning.
He was the son of William and Martha Bowers Harris, born Nov. 2, 1875 at Abbington, Va. and resided in the vicinity of Newtown for a number of years. He was married to Nellie Hudson, of Newtown, Dec. 22, 1898, who died in 1954.
He was a member of the Waynetown Masonic Lodge, having served as secretary for 35 years; the Waynetown chapter of O.E.S. and sexton of the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery for many years.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ruth H. Ingersoll, County Club Road Crawfordsville, Mrs. Beulah L. Shultz, Waynetown and Mrs. Susan J. Gravett, of Speedway; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister Mrs. Laura Head, of Attica; a brother David Harris, of Texarkana, Texas, and a half-brother, who resides in California.
He was preceded in death by a son Leroy and two daughters, who died in infancy.
Private funeral service held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Servies Funeral Home with Rev. Homer M. Cole officiating. Burial in the Masonic
