HARPER, John Francis

The body of John Francis Harper, 36-year-old resident of Attica Rt. 2, who was drowned in the Wabash River after falling from a boat at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday, June 25, was recovered at about 11:15 a.m. Sunday, June 26.  Volunteer firemen dragged the, river all night Saturday night in an effort to locate the body, which was found by Gerald Sprinkle of Lafayette, who was passing thru the area in a boat.
Harper was with Victor Reynolds, 1001 S. Perry St., Attica bringing a mussle boat down the river when he is reported to have stumbled and fell over the side of the boat, about four miles north of Attica.  Reynolds gave the alarm directing Fountain and Warren County Sheriff departments, the conservation officer, Bob Crawford and Bounce Schmid along with State Trooper Stan Kenny to the scene.  - jz
