Veedersburg - James Albert Harper, 76, former employee of the Veedersburg Brick Company died Friday morning in his home here. He had been in failing health the past year and seriously ill the past month with a heart ailment. Born Dec 1, 1881, in Crawfordsville, Mr. Harper was the son of John and Eliza Fletcher Harper. He married Effie Morgan Sept 6, 1902. Survivors include the widow; four son, David and Gordon both of Crawfordsville; Blaine and Ross both of Veedersburg; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Veedersburg EUB Church with burial at Rockfield Cemetery (Waynetown Masonic Cemetery). Rev. Samuel Pritchard will be officiating minister. Friends may call at the J. Fred Parham Funeral Home in Veedersburg.

James Albert Harper, son of John and Eliza Fletcher Harper, was born near Crawfordsville, Ind., December 1, 1881 and passed away February 21, 1958 at the age of 76 years, 2 months, and 21 days. He had been in failing health for the past few years and was seriously ill for the past 2 weeks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mrs, Ollie Beckwith and Mrs. Florence Gresmire, and two brothers, Herley Harper and a twin brother, Alva Harper.
He was united in marriage to Effie Morgan on September 6, 1902. She survives. To this union four sons were born, David and Gordon of Crawfordsville, Ross and Blaine of Veedersburg. Also surviving are seven granddaughters and eleven great-grandchildren.
Ab, as he had been known to all who knew him well, spent all his life in Veedersburg, his parents moving here when he was quite young. He was employed for many years at the Brick Yards, in Veedersburg.
He was a devoted husband and father and loved to have his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with him. He spent, many hours working in his garden and with his flowers.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and neighbors. - jz

James Elbert (Albert) Harper, 76, died at 2:30 a.m. Friday, Feb..21, 1958, at his home in Veedersburg. He had been seriously in one month with a heart condition.
Born near Crawfordsville, Dec. , 1, 1881, he was the son of John and Eliza Fletcher Harper. On Sept. 6, 1902, he was married to Effie Morgan, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, David and Gordon of Crawfordsville and Ross and Blaine of Veedersburg; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Harper moved to Veedersburg when a child and was employed many years by the Veedersburg Brick Co.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Veedersburg Evangelical United Brethren Church of which he was a member. The Rev. Samuel Pritchard officiated, with burial in Rockfield Cemetery (Waynetown Masonic Cemetery). The Parham Funeral Home was in charge. - jz
