Perrysville—Harry Harper, 74, Perrysville, died at 6:15 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 1989 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Danville, Ill.
He was born Aug. 20, 1914 in Stone Bluff, the son of John W. and Estella Luman Harper. He was married March 1, 1935 to Leona J. Alexander, who preceded him in death Nov. 2, 1970. He later married Doraleen Gash Hughes on April 16, 1971, who survives.
He was a resident of Route 1, Perrysville, for 18 years and a former resident of Portland Arch and Stone Bluff. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was an engineer in the boiler room at the V.A. for 28 years, retiring in 1973.
He was a member of Covington Nazarene Church, Perrysville Lions Club and AARP.
Surviving besides his wife are three daughters, Mrs. Davey (Carolyn) Puckett, Kingman; Penny Chezem, Ringo, Ga., and Mrs. Dale (Dianne) Pate, Chattanooga, Tenn.; nine stepchildren; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; 15 step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with Pastor Ken Pavlick officiating. Burial was in Rockfield Cemetery.
