WEST LEBANON -An autopsy is being performed to determine the exact cause of death of Gerald Gaffer Hargan, 37, of Rt. 1, who dropped dead as he was driving home from a fishing trip with his 10-year-old son Brian, and a friend, Henry Lee Barron of West Lebanon. Officials said Mr. Hargan died at 8 a.m. Thursday of natural causes as he was driving the truck near Kenora, Ontario, Canada. He was born in Hening, III., and moved to Indiana in 1950. He graduated from West Lebanon High School and was married at Covington in 1961 to Georgia Claypool, who survives. He was a four-year veteran of the Marine Corps, serving in the Western Pacific. Mr. Hargan was a farmer and a dealer for Trojan Hybrid Seed Corn. He formerly worked as a truck driver hauling livestock and also worked for Kembel Enterprises of Milford, Ill. Surviving with the widow are a daughter, Tracie Junellen and a son, Brian F., both at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Hargan of Rt. 2, Williamsport and two sisters, Mrs. Don (Marilyn) Youngblood and Mrs. Jerry (Carolyn "Sis") James, both of Covington.  --typed by Walt W

Funeral services for Gerald Gaffer Hargan, 37, of Rt. 1, West Lebanon, who died on August 28, 1975, were held at the Fisher Funeral Home in Williamsport on Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Grover Williams officiating.
  Serving as pallbearers were Tom Bannon, Henry Gooden, Henry Barron, Wayne Owens, Kenneth Cronkhite, Clyde Hawkins, Al Mormann and Richard Claypool. Honorary pallbearers included Eldon (Bud) Miles, Richard Miles, Robert Miles, Melvin Miles, Harold Miles, Gary Hannagan, Ronnie Hargan, Bret Alexander and Gene Witt.
  Burial was in the Potomac Cemetery, Potomac, Ill. The Williamsport American Legion Post 293 provided impressive military graveside services.

Gerald Gaffer Hargan, 37, Rt. 1, West Lebanon, died 8 a.m. Thursday near Kenora, Ontario, Canada.
  He had been on a two week fishing camp with his 10-year-old son, Brian, and had just broken camp and was heading home in his pickup truck when, about 25 miles from the campsite, he suddenly veered off the road and into a ditch.
  His death was due to natural causes and is being investigated by officials in Kenora.
  Brian and another passenger, Henry Lee Barron, West Lebanon, were shaken up, but not injured.
  They all were part of a group of several other fishermen from the West Lebanon community and the Hargan party was the last to leave camp.
  Gerald Hargan was born near Henning, Ill., Dec. 24, 1937, son of Francis and June McMillan Hargan. He moved to Indiana in 1950 and had been a Rt. 1, West Lebanon, resident for 14 years.
  He was married Dec. 17, 1961, in Covington to Georgia Claypool, daughter of Richard and Mary Claypool of Covington. He graduated from West Lebanon High School in 1956, served in the Marine Corps in the western Pacific, and was engaged in farming. His previous employment included seed corn dealer for Trojan Hybrid, livestock hauler for Jack Lawrence and he was associated with Kembel Enterprises at Milford, Ill., selling grain-handling equipment.
  Surviving with his wife and son, Brian Francis, are a daughter, Tracie Junellen, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Hargan, Rt. 2, Williamsport; two sisters, Mrs. Don (Marilyn) Youngblood, and Mrs. Jerry (Carolyn “Sis”) James, both of Covington; the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ethel McMillan, Henning, Ill., one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Gaffer McMillan, and his paternal grandparents.
  Funeral arrangements are pending at the Fisher Funeral Home in Williamsport awaiting return of the body from Canada. Final interment will be at Potomac Cemetery in Potomac, Ill.
