Covington – Funeral services were set for Tuesday afternoon in the Snoddy Church with interment in the cemetery there, conducted by the Covington American Legion for John R. Hardesty, 84, Civil War Veteran and former Fountain County sheriff, who died at his home here Sunday evening. He was a native of Boone County. He was long prominent in Fountain Republic politics was a farmer and later a Cates merchant. Surviving are the widow and five children.
